About me

My Philosophy

Knowledge is power. Go into birth prepared and excited. Do not be fearful of this marvelous thing that your body does. Complications may arise so be ready to face them head on. Read evidence based books, keep your body strong and learn to relax your mind when your pregnant. People always say birth is like running a marathon and that you wouldn't run one without training first for it, I agree with that. Be prepared and have your birth and support team be prepared.

My Story

<---- That is me, the one with the belly. My three sisters acted as my doulas when I was in labor in March of 2013 as my husband was deployed and I asked them to be my support team. I don't know if they knew what they were getting into but they did a fantastic job for my 18 hour labor. In the postpartum period I would find myself thinking "I don't know how I would have done it without them". I realized that a support team is worth its weight in gold while a mom is in labor. The birth bug officially bit me and I knew I wanted to go into birth work myself. I took a CAPPA lactation educator course in August 2013 and then a DONA international Birth and Postpartum Doula training in January 2014.
